Removal of Potential Spoilage Organisms from Beer
Cairngorm Brewery Company, situated in the village of Aviemore within the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland, is a brewery established in 2001. They have a 20-barrel brew house, capable of producing 6500 litres of beer each day. As well as their permanent cask beers, they also have seasonal cask beers to suit all tastes available throughout the year. Cairngorm also carry out contract bottling services for other breweries. Cairngorm beers have been awarded various CAMRA and SIBA awards over the years and in order to maintain the high-quality standards and 12 months shelf life that is needed for supplying supermarkets and exporting the beer, filtration is an important step in their production process.
Fileder supply Cairngorm Brewery with the SPECTRUM Premier Spun-Bonded Cartridges (PSP-10-30MHS) as the first stage of their cartridge filtration cascade, where they are used to catch the Diatomaceous Earth fines that could come through from the Kieselguhr system. For the bottling line, 0.45μm SPECTRUM Premier Pleat Polypropylene cartridges (PPP-0.45-30FHS) are supplied as a pre-filter to the 0.45μm SPECTRUM Premier Pleat Polyethersulfone (PPPES-0.45-30FHS) absolute rated cartridges, to remove yeast or spoilage materials from the final bottled beer which could potentially reduce shelf life. Fileder also supply the 0.2μm SPECTRUM Premier Pleat Polyethersulfone (PPPES-0.2-10CGS) absolute cartridge, which is used as a guard filter on the water feed to the bottle rinse, to remove spoilage organisms that could contaminate the bottles prior to bottling the beer.
Fileder Filter Systems is one of the largest independent process filtration and water treatment supplier in the UK. A wide range of filtration and water treatment products are available to order for next day delivery, including carbon blocks, pleated and depth cartridges, housings and RO systems.
